SEED OF INTIMACY

September 4th, 2012

Being true to yourself may not mean having a LOT of friends, but it will lead you to the RIGHT friends. It’s better to be alone than in company that tears you down, and even better to find a small group of friends with a large degree of mutual respect. Choose great depth over being in great demand. Opt for authenticity  and intimacy over popularity.

So true! I’ve certainly let some go along the way, but love that the ones I have know me and love me as I am.

  2. Kenneth Vogt says:

The word “friend” is often misused in situations where the word “acquaintance” would be more appropriate. Being friendly doesn’t make you friends. So be friendly but reserve that more lofty label for those who stand by and with you, who know you and love you in spite of what they know.

  4. Stuart says:

The trouble is we have some friends that have been with us a long time but may not have grown as we have. They will end up pulling you down and making you feel negative. If you can’t cut ties with them because of your history or related relationships – at least distance yourself. Before seeing them, put yourself in a state of mind that will repel their negativity.

  5. And what about Family? Being True to oneself can be even harder in presence of your family if they don’t understand or are not on the same level as you. What we all must have more of and constantly train is Empathy. This will make life much easier when trying to chose with home we have in our closest tribe. Many will sacrifice themselves just to have companionship and not to be alone. And it is hard to say what is right :)/ @LordSillion
