SEED OF COMMUNITY

January 6th, 2013

An anthropologist proposed a game to kids in an African tribe. He put a basket of fruit near a tree & told them whoever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he gave a signal to run they took each others hands and ran together, then sat in a circle to eat. When he asked them why they chose to run as a group when they could have had more fruit individually a child spoke up and said: UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the others are sad? UBUNTU in Xhosa culture means: I am because we are.
