Addiction is a disease. You didn’t ask for it, you didn’t cause it and you don’t deserve it. It is one card in the hand you were dealt, but it is not the whole deck. You are so much more than your addiction. Now that you have accepted your disease and shrunk it to its rightful size and perspective, set about recovering one step at a time. You know you can do it.
Say to yourself: I have an addiction, but I am not my addiction. I am a strong, whole person on a path of recovery.
